11.2.12

I'm happy to be home. Another week under my belt and another week closer to summer.
It's been a strange week not only for me but for my husband as well. The military is not what it used to be and leadership in certain areas is lacking. It is my hope that we will see some changes in this upcoming elections for the better. We are proud to have him serve our country and he would love nothing better than to stay in but only time and this election will tell.
It is also my hope that we elect people who will make the right choices for our children's education.
In the meantime...
Alg2 was a bust. One kid was busy with cheer leading, the other two missed class. Try again Monday.
Alg1- did consecutive integers and they seemed to pick it up all right. We're practicing word problem stuff so hopefully they pick it up and figure out how to do it on their own. A certain kid in that class was shredding an eraser of mine and throwing it at people. So I laid into him for destroying my property and asked him why he thought it was a good idea and if he realized how I felt since he was destroying something of mine. That he should be able to sympathize seeing as his stuff was messed with as well that it was disrespectful. That kid needs to be held accountable for what he does but my guess is someone higher up will just make excuses, as usual.
MMA - graphs for bivariate info. Boring but needs to be done. Ok. Boring to them, fine for me. A certain kid was obnoxious today. Asked him to leave, he agreed to keep his mouth shut but it seems like he's been talking crap cos he got this snide look on his face that he directed toward someone else. *sigh* kids.
Geometry- had a unit test today. Kids came in and got straight to work. They stayed focused and on task... And then the principal came by wanting to talk to the kids. He said he'd talk to them later but the kids told him he might as well talk since they were now distracted. And then he cussed them out for being disrespectful and back talking and all that fun stuff. To make matters worse, one of the kids started back talking right then and yeah. They got back to work when he left but you could tell they weren't happy. They didn't need that. None of us need the troubles we've had lately.
It's not really fair or good management to not be around for extended periods of time and then to drop back in and expect everything to be perfect. Then when it's not, you berate your staff and students. I know they're busy but it difficult to work for people who act like our concerns don't matter and when our concerns cause problems, all hell breaks loose. It's just poor management and frustrating. We worry that it will get worse before it gets better. Not just for us but for the kids as well. In the meantime, we keep on keeping on and try to do better but I tell ya, it's causing great concern amongst the ranks. I understand they are trying to do better but it feels like they are going about it all wrong.
But you know what? It's the weekend so I'm done with that for now. Laters.
