Its been a week or so since the last post. So far I haven't come across much by way of HS fun math things so I thought I'd pull from the bucket of websites I know and have tried (but haven't kept up with).
1st - Mangahigh.com: my students (Algebra 1) enjoy this site and often ask when we'll be able to play on it again. They have small competitions for best scores and there are small tutorials that can be used if the student isn't catching on the first time.
2nd - Khan Academy - I've played around with this website and its pretty fun, once you get started. My only hang up was that the student needed to create either a Facebook or Google account. I'm sure my students already have one or the other, but I felt weird about telling them to set an account up if they did not have one. The students that do have an account, have liked the practice sessions and they like that there are videos they can watch for not only math, but science as well. there is a wealth of knowledge on this site and I highly recommend it.
3rd - http://coolmath-games.com/ my own kids like this site and the games on it. I'm not totally convinced that all the games are super math helpful, but it does have some games that they need to use basic math to win.
That's all I've got for today. I think next time I'll try posting pictures of the scrapbooking math visuals I've created for my class. Have a great day!
