Since this is the first blog, I've decided not to open with a rant about things i've seen throughout my day. This will happen soon though. Don't you worry.
Today's topic is borrowed from another blogger's site: 10 things i learned from heavy metal.
1) anyone who can kick a doublebass and keep the beat, is a super bad-ass.
2) sometimes we just need to scream about what's going on around us or about issues we feel need to be addressed. (run to the hills comes to mind here)
3) its ok to wear black. a lot of black. its an intimidating color and can help you avoid any unwanted social interactions.
4) as much as i practice, i will never be able to play the guitar like the rock gods. thank goodness for Guitar Hero medium level.
5) thanks to channels like VH1, i now know that heavy metal guys are just as sensitive as the rest of us, namely Lars from metallica. the exception to this new found knowledge: Fraser Kilmister from Motorhead. he's heavy metal to the core.
6) songs that used to be "scary" when I was younger, really aren't that scary. the things people sing about these days are way more dark and blatantly crude. im doing my kids a favor by subjecting them to the heavy metal i grew up with.
7) to all those who think they're heavy metal today, you aren't. you do not know what metal is.
8) some might say heavy metal is dead. i've decided that heavy metal isn't dead, its just old.
9) heavy metal taught me how to "damn the man". "stop that, imprisoning me..."
10) you don't have to be good looking to be famous.
These are the things I've learned from heavy metal. these things and that every once in a while its nice to crank up the stereo, throw up the horns and bang your head.
